After moving from Los Angeles, she studied theatre at The University of Southern California and performed as Belle the princess of Beauty and the Beast at Disneyland for an year and a quarter. She left college in order to seek out an agent. She then began doing auditions and appearing on TV and in film. Butler guest-starred in the TV series CSI: Miami and CSI: NY.
