Maria Menounos
Maria was helping her mother with stage four brain cancer. She discovered that she was in the middle of a health crisis. In February 2014 Menounos started experiencing troubling symptoms. In an exclusive article of PEOPLE Menounos admits that she'd been suffering from headaches and lightheadedness while on set. "My speech had gotten lost and I had trouble reading the transcript". Menounos was diagnosed with a massive meningioma brain tumor. An MRI confirmed the diagnosis. Menounos booked an appointment with her mom's physician, famous surgeon Dr. Keith L. Black The surgery was scheduled on June 8, her 39th birthday. "He advised me, 'I'm 99 percent sure it's a benign tumor, but it will be determined once we're there at the time of surgery,'" she says. Dr. Black managed to eliminate 99.9 percent of benign tumors through a procedure that took 7 hours. She claims that Dr. Black told her that it's likely to have the tumor reappearing in six to seven percent of cases. This is my most reliable chance to bet. Menounos has returned home from her hospital stay for six days. She's currently recovering and spending her time with Litsa and her mom. Litsa's latest MRI confirms that she is unaffected by cancer.
